Collaboratively Creating a Siwal Si’wes Digital Library and Curriculum Connections

As a district, how can we best organize digital resources to support teachers as we head into the implementation of BC’s re-designed curriculum? This was the big question we had NOT thought of yet when we embarked on this digital library project 2 years ago. Our first question was, “How can we encourage teachers with supporting our Aboriginal Enhancement Agreement?” The answer was, by actively providing authentic resources including digital resources. So, how can we create an aboriginal digital library that might work for teachers, our aboriginal learning community, and our broader learning community? With support and encouragement from administration, Jen and Ann put their heads together and figured something out. This presentation will bring you through their story; the story of how they got from 2 teacher librarians wondering how to create an aboriginal digital library, to district teachers and staff collaborating with them in the continuing development of MPSD’s digital resource collections.
